Cassie, an “independent” 8-month old – Los Angeles Children’s Photographer

As I meet children of all ages nowadays, I can’t ignore the impression that they appear to be a lot smarter at a much earlier age.  Of course, since I used myself as a reference when I was little, the reference could be less representative of the generation that I belong to. 🙂

Then I met Cassie, the girl that just came to this world 8 months ago.  She totally blew me out of water.

Here’s this little one that seems to be in her own zone, not bothered by the people, kids (mind you, the drama and the noise), or the dogs.  From a “looking down” kind of perspective as an adult (but who am I here to judge if she was already much smarter than I was), it seems that she’s got the little engine churning in her head to process information that’s only relevant to her.  I mean, how impressive is that when all you see from her face is calmness, at an age of 8 months…

  2. It’s wonderful how they really are in their own oasis of calm.
How do we lose that ability as we get older?
There’s so much to learn from these little people 🙂

    • You have a very good point, Vanessa! As we get older, we pay for professional help to get calm. 🙂 Is it the education that messed us up? 😉

  3. I am not surprised at all, babies and children have an aptitude to live in the present moment and to be totally absorbed. And if they are old souls, then that really transpires. My elder son used to just sit and observe everyone in a little buddha fashion. Very contemplative and soaking everything in.

Kids until they are six live in a delta state all the time (the state that hypnotherapists get you to – or try if you are a hard case) so that they are actually absorbing without being involved… fascinating.

    Great photo

    • Anges – How do you know that your elder kid was not a Buddha? Haha…

So what’s messing us up that we have to hire professionals to get us back to where we were when young?

    • Thank you, Holly! Isn’t Cassie cute? She’s there smiling, playing all by herself, which got me started to think that there’s something going on in her little brain. 🙂
